Samford University’s Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for an anticipated opening for a position as Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Religion within the Howard College of Arts and Sciences. This is a tenure-track full-time faculty 9-month appointment and will begin in August 2019.
Qualified candidates will hold an earned Ph.D. in biblical studies, with a specialization in Old Testament preferred. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of outstanding teaching and proven research agenda and publications. Candidates must affirm the Baptist Statement of Faith and Message of 1963, including the preface and without added interpretation. Candidates must also be committed to promoting the study of biblical, theological and religious studies as a central academic pursuit in the university and as valuable to the intellectual, vocational, and spiritual maturation of students. The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of the department’s required Biblical Perspectives course each year, as well as upper level courses in Old Testament or biblical studies. Duties also include mentoring and advising of students as well as service to the department, college, and university.
