Nashotah House Theological Seminary announces an opening in New Testament and Greek. Ideally the applicant would be available as early as the fall term of 2018, although the seminary can exercise flexibility in the case of an exceptional candidate. This is a tenure-track position; rank is open. Primary responsibilities include teaching beginning Greek and the core curriculum in New Testament. Regular offering of advanced electives and/or teaching in the Hybrid-Distance program is also expected. The course load is five courses per academic year, with a corresponding expectation of full engagement with the seminary's rich but demanding life of worship, community, and formation.
Because of its express mission to prepare men and women for ecclesial ministry, Nashotah House especially values excellence in classroom teaching, enthusiasm for student mentoring, in addition to scholarly competence. Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D. in New Testament studies and demonstrate a pattern of pedagogical excellence and a promising track record in research and publication. Candidates with a strong secondary teaching competence (e.g., in homiletics, moral theology, or pastoral ministry) will be given particular consideration.
“. . . Nashotah House exists to form persons for ministry in the breadth of the Catholic Tradition, for the Episcopal Church, Churches in the Anglican Tradition, the wider Anglican Communion, and our Ecumenical Partners, thus continuing to serve our historic role as ‘The Mission,’ empowering the Church for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Although an affiliation with Anglicanism and priestly ordination in an Anglican jurisdiction are desirable, these are not strict requirements, provided the candidate possesses strong sympathy for the seminary's mission and her theological and ecclesial traditions. Candidates must assent to the Seminary's Statement of Identity (pp. 56-57). Women and persons of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the position, a current curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation to
