New Testament Faculty and Co-chair of the Graduate Ministry Program

Hope International University’s mission is “to empower students through Christian higher education to serve the Church and impact the world for Christ.” Hope invites applications for a full-time professor of New Testament (rank open) and co-chair of the Graduate Ministry Program beginning in the fall of 2025.

This position includes a combination of teaching, administrative, advising, and service duties. This faculty member will teach courses in biblical and theological studies in the undergraduate program (on-campus and online) as well as the graduate program (online). Teaching and church ministry experience is desired, and the faculty member must demonstrate competence in traditional and online learning with the ability to create online courses. Graduate chair responsibilities include helping the dean schedule courses, review syllabi, oversee online faculty and students, and oversee assessment and accreditation of the Graduate program. The faculty member should hold a terminal degree in the field of expertise and must remain current in their discipline. Ideal candidates will be part of the Stone-Campbell Restoration movement of churches. They will pursue Christ-like character, participate in the life of the church, and exhibit servant leadership in the community. Faculty members are encouraged to research and will have the academic freedom to teach and research as they support the university’s mission and statement of belief. Faculty are contracted for 12 months, but primary teaching expectations correspond to the traditional academic calendar from August through May.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Ph.D. in New Testament Studies or closely related field
• Teaching introductory and advanced courses in New Testament to both undergraduate and graduate students
• Administrative responsibilities overseeing the Graduate Ministry Program
• Conducting, presenting, and publishing original research in area of specialty
• A strong personal Christian commitment and commitment to the HIU’s mission to empower students through Christian higher education to serve the Church and impact the world for Christ
• Member of a Christian Church or Stone-Campbell Restoration Church is preferred and active in their local church
